Abstract
|
|
|
We evaluated the topical effect of the antibiotics and Aprotinin in the experimentally induced pseudomonas aeruginosa keratitis in rabbits.
24 albino rabbits were used for this study and divided into 8 group according to the treatment protocols as follows: Aprotinin 40 u/ml, 1000 u/ml, antibiotics(Ciprofloxacin & tobramycin) an antibiotics and Aprotinin combined-treated group.
The durgs were instilled on the rabbits' cornea 6 times per day for 2 weeks. We examined the clinical characteristics using hand-held slit lamp every day. For the histopathologic examination, we enucleated every samples with time interval and
made
specimens from light microscope.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) Aprotinin-treated group shows progression of ulcer oinfiltrates regardless of its concentrations.
2) there was statistically significant difference between the antibiotics-treated group and the contrpl group(p<0.05). but the combination of Aprotinin and antibiotics were not able to gain statistical significance over antibiotics
alone(p>0.05).
3) There was no clinical and histopathological difference in he rabbit cornea between oiprofloxacin and tobramycin(p>0.05).
